Google Play Store Will Be Revamped To Lower The Rank Of Low-Performance App

Google Play Store which is one stop solution for all the apps currently available in the market. Apart from different apps the Google Play Store also offers different music, books which can be downloaded by the user. In order to enhance the performance of Google Play Store, the company have taken a new initiative to lower the rank of low-performance apps which are likely to be crashed.

The new algorithm is implemented by Google Play Store to check the quality of each application and to eradicate the apps which have bugs or affect your battery life. To increase the customer’s engagement in the app and to increase the popularity of the app company has taken this initiative.

The high-quality apps which are bug-free with enhanced performance will be ranked at the top on the Google Play Store while other low-performance apps will be ranked down. This move by Google will filter out the low-performance apps that will ease the task of Android users. This will also make Android stand out of the crowd when compared to iOS. The apps which are rated 1-star by users on Google Play Store were facing the stability and performance issues.

The ranking for the app will help the users in determining which app to install and which not to install. Hence the users time in browsing different apps and deciding which one is the best will be reduced. Thus, the newly implemented algorithm will prevent the bottle neck in the performance of different apps which will prevent the user from installing any app which contains bugs and can be crashed.

The factors which will be considered to determine whether a particular app will be ranked at the top or will be ranked lowered are the performance of the app, user engagement in the app, and the user’s ratings. These apps will determine the ranking of apps and its appearance on the search results. With this initiative, all the unnecessary apps will be cleaned up to free to space. This move will also target the developers to build a bug-free and high-performance app.

Google May Have To Pay $9 Billion Fine In Europe Over Shopping Tools

European regulators may fine Google for billion dollars fine for this summer for anti-competitive practices related to shopping tools. The antitrust regulators of Europe may place a hefty fine on Alphabet which is Google unit for its shopping service before summer break in August.Google May Have To Pay $9 Billion Fine In Europe Over Shopping Tools

The EU move is expected to arrive in coming weeks and will blame Google for making use of its near-monopoly for the online search to direct the customers towards its Google Shopping. According to Financial Times, news publication the company may have to pay huge fine misuse of the Shopping tools.

The exact amount of fine which the company may have to pay is not clear but it is expected that the company may have to pay €1 billion for its anti-competitive behavior.

A similar penalty was handed over to Intel in 2009 and the chipmaker Intel had to pay a penalty of €1bn. In 2016, The European Commission claimed that Google has misused its market presence and redirected customers to its own online shopping platform where price comparison of the product was done. However, the European spokesperson denied saying anything over the issue including the penalty price.

Many big European technology competitors and senior politicians present in Paris and Berlin have advised that Margrethe Vestager takes hard action against an Alphabet-based company. The penalty for the companies who breach the EU antitrust rules can reach 10% of the global revenue and for Google, it may account to $9 billion of its 2016.

The company protected itself saying that the search conducted by the giant search engine have increased the traffic to online shopping sites like Amazon and eBay. Kent Walker, Google’s general counsel said that in past 10 years a massive amount of traffic has drifted from our search pages to popular online sites like eBay and Amazon to Europe which does not indicate that company is only favoring their sites.

The fine will be calculated based on 30% of the Google’s shopping tool revenue which will be multiplied by anti-competitive behavior. The company must draft its future plans for its shopping service and submit it to the commission within the certain time span and if the companies do not do this it may face an additional penalty of 5 percent every day calculated based on average daily turnover.

Google is presently working on the next-gen of most like Pixel smartphones which are expected to hit the market soon. The new ex-Apple chip manufacturer will build and provide the custom chips for upcoming flagship Pixel smartphones. The name of the chip manufacturer is Manu Gulati who was former Apple employee and worked there for eight years and designed processors that shipped with Apple iPhone devices. Gulati has revealed about his appointment at Google as Lead SoC Architect on June 13 via LinkedIn profile.

Until now Pixel and Pixel XL and all Android smartphones used Qualcomm’s processor. However, the Gulati’s appointment hints that very soon Google would equip its smartphones with own custom chips to have more control over the smartphone devices.

The idea of designing custom chips may have come from Google’s competitor which is Apple. As most of the smartphones are equipped with Qualcomm processor which provides similar features to all the smartphones available in the market. Due to this, the smartphone may lose its identity hence they are planning to switch towards custom made chips.

Google is planning to design its own custom processor in order to distinguish it from other smartphones that will be launched in the market. The news regarding the design of custom processor also comes from the job vacancies listed on the company’s website which reveals that Google is looking for Mobile SoC CPU Architect and Hardware engineer.

Hence this reveals that Google is planning for some new custom processors which will be seen in futuristic phones. Google had earlier launched mid-range devices like Nexus series but to compete with premium iPhone devices the company had launched Pixel and Pixel XL phones.

As Apple designs its chipset in-house it has become dominant market player hence the custom processors coming to Google phones will help them to have better control over the devices and can ship them with high-end features.

However, Google claims that the business customers can continue using the enterprise-based drive system and the regular users can switch towards the new Backup and Sync tool by downloading it once it becomes available. The enterprise-based drive system allows the business people to have access to a large amount of data without consuming much of the hard drive space.

The early birds who are interested in trying out the Drive File Stream can sign up for the Early Adopter Program. Google has not revealed much about how the users can benefit from the extended backup feature. But the users can open and edit the files as they usually do but how they can sync the files to multiple desktops is not yet clear.

However, for the regular users, the backup limit will be just 15 GB which is capable enough to hold a large amount of data. The users who need additional storage have to pay the additional price. This will surely help Google to compete with its rival like Dropbox which have come across many requests from different users demanding similar feature.

Google has been updating its Drive with latest feature like recently in the month of March it had introduced a feature called Google Vault for Drive which helps admins to gain more control over the files containing company’s private data.

Google Home was released during Google I/O event in 2016 and since then the device is competing with other competitors like Amazon Echo device.

Google Home is very useful to the users since you can stream the YouTube videos or Netflix shows on your TV, listen to your favorite music or news. You can control any smart device present in your home by just issuing voice commands.

But recently many Google Home users have complained to the support forum about the presence of an error in the device which does not accept any voice commands from the users. Google Will Roll Out Chrome Ad Blocker Next Year To Block Annoying Ads

Google, the giant search engine has confirmed that next year that Chrome will come with built-in ad blocker technology which will restrict the annoying ads which cling to the website. It will also help the publishers to understand how they will be affected by ad blocker tool.Google Will Roll Out Chrome Ad Blocker Next Year To Block Annoying Ads

As online advertisement has become the primary source of income for many companies, the new tool is alerting publishers to be ready for this change. The Ad Experience Report will help publishers to know how they will be affected by inbuilt ad blocker tool. This tool will help the users as they won’t see annoying ads. However, one needs to note that only annoying ads will be blocked by this tool, as a result, the users will see only fewer ads.

The ad blocker which will be launched next year will eliminate the necessity of downloading the third-party software to block the ads. The company’s senior VP for ads and Commerce Sridhar Ramaswamy claimed that an ad blocker is on its way to Chrome.

The caution is given to all publishers which will help them to assess their ads and remove disruptive ads from that page. Only disruptive ads containing intrusive advertisement, autoplay videos with sound that occupy the entire screen. The users will also give permission to publishers to launch their own ad blocking software and whitelist the site so the non-annoying ads will be displayed or they have to pay a small amount to access ad-free content.

Nowadays ads are annoying users and the third-party ad blockers blocks all the ads including the ones which are not annoying and have good content for users. The technology released by Google is not the exact ad blocker, in fact, it is a kind of filter which removes the ads that consumers hate the most like popups, flash ads or the autoplay ads which cannot be stopped within certain time limit.

The unacceptable and annoying ads are analyzed by the group called Coalition for Better Ads which comprises of Facebook, Google, News Corp and The Washington Post members.

Google Will Keep An Eye On Your Offline Shopping Habits To Help Advertisers

The advertisement is the largest source of income for Google and majority of its revenue is generated from this. It is creepy to note that Google and many other advertising firms are keeping an eye on your offline shopping habits including the pages which you visit and thus displays the ads which relate to it.Google Will Keep An Eye On Your Offline Shopping Habits To Help Advertisers

Google already tracks the online browsing behavior of people during online shopping and now it can track this behavior offline also. This will reduce the gap between online and offline retail stores. The company has made this possible due to the collaboration with debit and credit card companies. However, the company cannot determine which items are purchased or how much an individual spent.

The offline tracking of shopping habits will also help Google to determine the prosperity of ads and to check if the user viewed the item online before buying it from retail stores. The offline tracking is currently in beta testing phase and will facilitate the growth of digital marketing.

Google will use artificial intelligence algorithms to determine the credit card transaction data which will help advertisers to check how much revenue can be attributed to their online ad campaigns. The company is just trying to demonstrate the users that their online ads are quite beneficial in influencing the shopping decisions for both online and offline shopping.

Earlier, Google had launched store visits measurements to provide the marketers more knowledge about the users shopping habits which begin from online stores and end up in retail stores. This was possible with the help of advanced machine learning, mapping experience to improve its accuracy.

Just viewing the offline shopping habits is not sufficient and it is important to see how these online ads translate into real-world sales. For this purpose, Google has joined hands with credit and debit card companies which contribute to 70% of credit/debit transaction. The new store sales measurements will be given by credit and debit card companies in an encrypted format to Google. The company can then compare this data with the online user profiles whether they clicked on any ad or not.
